STEP 02

- Get all your parts ready. [Mark and cut]

You need to cut a total of 12 pieces for the gearboxes, 3 for the mounting arm, 1 for the small arms, as well as 2 for the bearing mount and coupling. To start, mark your flat bar with the caliper. note: make sure to close the caliper and zero it each time before starting. Also, since you can’t be really precise with any band saw, make sure to add an extra 0.30" to each cut so you can face them later on.

  • Upper gearbox

1 x ((2.25" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.25")
2 x ((1.875" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.25")
2 x ((1.875" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.125")
1 x ((2.25"+ 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.125")
1 x ((1.25"+ 0.30") x 1.5" x 0.5")

  • Bottom gearbox

1 x ((3.5" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.25")
2 x ((2" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.25")
2 x ((3" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.25")
1 x ((3" + 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.125")
1 x ((1.25"+ 0.30") x 1.5" x 0.5")

  • Mounting arm

2 x ((2"+ 0.30") x 1.5" x 0.25")
1 x ((3.25"+ 0.30") x 1.5" x 0.25")

  • Small arms

1 x ((1.25"+ 0.30") x 2.5" x 0.5")

The JET band saw is really safe and easy to use. Just make sure your part is tightly gripped inside the vise, and that the cooler fluid is running while cutting. When you are done, there are only two steps to clean the machine. Use the squeegee and push all the accumulated liquid and metal in the bed to the middle hole. Use a rag and clean the vise area. You can also use the compressed air gun to blow away all the metal swarfs around the vise area. IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to put on your goggles, attach your hair, take off any jewelry including your watch, wear closed shoes, and be very careful while working with any machine in the shop. Safety is not an option! Also, make sure to clean all the dust and oil on the floor and from each machine after using them. It is extremely important to keep the shop environment as clean and healthy as possible. It is part of the education of any shop!
