Step1: Connecting the cables and electrodes

 

Of the two white lead wires that come out the device, the Red tipped lead is the Anode (+), and the Black tipped lead is the Cathode (-). Take the adapter and plug the Red end into the Red cable wire, and the Black end into the Black cable wire.

 

Step2: Preparing the sponge electrodes

 

Taking out the yellow sponge inside the grey rubber case. And then, thoroughly saturated the sponge with saline solution (1/8 teaspoon of salt to every 8oz of water). After putting the sponge back to its rubber case, connecting the Red and Black leads to each of the sponge electrodes.

 

Step3: Positioning the electrodes onto the desired areas

 

Placing the electrodes and make sure they are secured in place with a headband or other fastening material.  If you plan to stimulate any bare-skin areas, be sure to thoroughly wash the area beforehand.

 

Step4: Operating the device

 

The selector knob on the device allows you to control the output current between 0.5mA, 1.0mA, 1.5mA, and 2mA. The LED on the top of the device will indicate whether or not the device is on. Before turning on the device, ensure that all cables and electrodes are connected properly.

 

Step5: Ending the session

 

Return the switch to the “OFF” position. Once the device is has ben shut down and the red LED turns off, you may start removing the electrodes.

 

 

IMPROTANT TO NOTE:

 

While some slight tingling is not uncommon, if you experience any uncomfortable or painful sensation, stop the session immediately. Scientific studies do not recommend that tDCS be used for longer that 20-30 minutes at a time, and no more than once per day.
