Instruction
- Step1:
Remove the sticky backing from your Large Muscle electrodes, and place these surface electrodes on two sides of your bicep.
- Step2:
Hook up the Muscle SpikerBox leads (the 2 red alligator clips) to the two surface electrodes on your bicep.
- Step3:
Place the reference electrode (Black) anywhere on the body. In the figure above we show it attached to a metal bracelet near the wrist. You can also use another EMG electrode placed anywhere on your body, or if you have any metal rings on your fingers, you can clip the reference electrode to your ring. Marriage has many advantages! You can also simply hold the reference electrode in your hand.
- Step4
Turn on the Muscle SpikerBox (turn the black round shape knob and the green LED wil turned on) and listen for changes in activity.
- Step5
Plug in your SmartPhone (with our free Android or iPhone apps installed) or computer (using our Backyard Brains PC app or Audacity program) to visualize the muscle activities. The "Whoosh" is the sound of many action potentials occurring in your muscles as the muscles contract. Using the BLUE output channel to connect with your computer's audio-in jack. Using the GREEN output channle on the muscle box to connect with your SmartPhone.
