DEI+A

DXARTS strives to create a safe, affirming, and welcoming space for all cultures, races, nationalities, sexes, gender identities, ages, religions, and economic statuses. We are committed to ensuring that the University of Washington’s DEI+A values are reflected through our diverse community of students, faculty and staff, our research and public-facing events, our course curriculum, our actions, and interactions within the department.

If you have experienced or witnessed an occurrence within the department - with a professor, adviser, staff member, or peer, that does not reflect our diversity, inclusion, and accessibility commitment the following action steps are recommended:

Voicing a Concern

2. Talk with the diversity and inclusion committee chair

You can meet with the DEI committee chair (Afroditi Psarra apsarra@uw.edu) to discuss the concern and talk about follow up options / desired next step(s).

For Faculty and Staff

Follow Up Expectations:

If the incident is communicated within the department or the DEI+A chair, the person will be made aware of potential follow up avenues and given the opportunity to consider them, however all concerns submitted to the department will be noted and followed up on. Depending on the concern and circumstances, an investigation may take place to gather information, and this may also require the voicing of the concern outside of the department to the UW at large. All concerns voiced will be brought up to the chair of the department.
