A course exploring the theory, history, and practice of video montage and appropriation. Heavily focused on editing, students will remix, re-use, and re-contextualize found and original footage, developing new video works from fragments. This course emphasizes the creation of new meaning through repetition and reconstruction and considers today's diverse circulation of and access to moving imagery. Students will further develop their technical skills and understanding of non-linear, experimental digital video montage through projects, readings, screenings, and discussions.
